Perhaps you have come across a keyword and decided that you wish to get it ranked? Whether you are a business owner or an internet marketer, the truth of the matter is that getting a keyword ranked is not as easy as it seems to be. Let’s say that you are trying to rank for the word ‘Airlines’. The problem is that other websites are more likely to be ranked on Google’s coveted first page than you, especially if they are Airlines sites!
However, it is not quite impossible either. In this article, you will know the importance of long tail keywords, and specific strategies to get your chosen keyword ranked in the quickest time possible. What you need to understand is that ranking a keyword is not a onetime matter, nor will you get your results immediately. Many factors contribute to this success.
Build an authoritative website: When it comes to websites, the longer it has been there the better it can serve your cause. Such a website is looked on favourably by Google and other search engines. Generally and by default a long lasting website means that it has existed according to search engine’s instructions for years.
A reliable network base: One of the fastest ways to rank for your chosen keyword is to have a strong network base. This can be anything such as your online blog readers, podcast subscribers, newsletter subscribers and followers on various social networking sites. Your keywords can succeed if you have a loyal following, and if enough people are using your keyword you have in mind.
Choosing a keyword that is right for you: Not all keywords are made equal, and that’s saying something! If you use Google Adwords Keyword Research Tool, you’ll see that keywords differ according to competition, search volume, global monthly searches, local monthly searches etc. What you need to do is to choose a keyword that falls between the High search volume and Low search volume divisions. The reason is obvious. You do not want one with a low search volume as it is not search a lot. Similarly it may be a waste of money to opt for the latter since High search volume keywords are highly competitive.
Choose a relevant keyword: You’ll find that you find success faster when you choose a keyword relevant to your business. For instance, if you are a Sports car manufacturing company and you choose the keyword ‘how to maintain your car’ it may not work as it is too general. Since your target audience is buyers of sports cars, the keyword should be ‘how to maintain your sports car’. One word can make a huge difference!
Did you know that you can find out what online customers want by looked at the keywords they use? That’s right! When you use Long Tail Keywords, you can gauge the intent of your customer. Long Tail Keywords are very specific, or ‘niche’. For instance, in this list you’ll see that as you go down, the keywords start getting more specific:
How will you utilize your chosen keyword? There are many ways to do this, such as posting an article, a blog, writing product descriptions, making directory links, making an e-book, writing an infographic and creating a YouTube video.
You need to use your keyword in a way that does not violate Google’s guidelines. Doing so will be set your efforts back ten steps just to take one small step ahead. For instance, do not use the keywords in your sentences if they don’t fit. Don’t use them forcibly.
Now comes the time for publishing your content, over which you have worked so hard. Before publishing, it is always a great idea to double-check your content. After hitting the Publish button, comes the fun step. You need to promote it! You can do this by various means, such as sharing on social networking sites, by incorporating widgets and Social media buttons so that your viewers can share your content, and by building links to your content page.
As we said in the beginning, ranking a keyword may not be easy, but it is not impossible either! The important thing to do is adhere to Google’s guidelines, use White Hat techniques, follow these guidelines and you’ll be fine!
